Dear Families,
Wow!!!! This year is
almost over. We have one full week of school and one half week of school left.
We are so proud of how much each of our students have learned this year. They
will do amazing things as they move on to first grade. We hope they will come
and say hello to us next year. We will miss them.
There will not be any
more homework coming home. We realize that there were two more homework packets
(29 and 30). If you would like these please email me and let me know and I will
get you a copy of these packets. These packets would be for review only. They do
not need to be turned in to the teacher.
We
will be having field day on May 25th. For this day we are in need of
a few donations. If you are willing to donate we are in need of:
· Popcorn kernels
· 25 to 50 filled water balloons
· Water bottles
· Or if you would like, you can just make a money
donation to the office.
We also have a few students who still need to turn in
their library book. You should have received or be receiving a missing book
notice. Please return these books to the school as soon as possible.
Thank you for your help
with these items.
Language
Arts:
We are still working on
skills 9. Skills 9 is reviewing capital letters. We are also learning many
tricky words.
This week we completed
the review of all the capital letters.

there, once, what, so, where, no, when, word, why, to
We are also still
working on creating and writing sentences. (Capital at the beginning of each
sentence, spaces between words, and a punctuation mark at the end of the
sentence.)
We are continuing to
review these skill areas:
Short vowel review: a,
e, i, o, and u
Rhyming word
Double letter spelling
consonants: ‘ss’ for /s/ as in dress. ‘rr’ for /r/ as in ferret. ‘zz’ for /z/
as in jazz. ‘nn’ for /n/ as in running. ‘ll’ for /l/ as in shell. ‘gg’ for
/g/ as in egg. ‘dd’ for /d/ as in add. ‘ff’ for /f/ as in stuff. ‘mm’ for /m/

reading).
We also continue to
review all the letters, letter sounds, writing letters (a-z), segmenting, and
blending words.
Please
continue to review these concepts with your student.
Math:
This week we review
subtraction. Next week we will be reviewing addition.
We are also continuing
to review: recognizing and writing numbers 1-30, counting to 100 by ones and
tens, using ten frames to make ten, number bonds, teen numbers, adding,
subtracting, and fact families.
Please
continue to review these concepts with your student.
*****Folders: FOLDERS NEED BE
TO BROUGHT BACK TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY, PLEASE!
Your child should have
a blue or red folder. These folders are how we send
home homework, notes of things going on in the school, and any other
information you might need. Please make
sure you are checking your child’s folder every night. Also, please try to take
everything out of your child’s folder, unless it is something that needs to be
turned into me. Most
papers done in class will not have a sticker or any indication of
being graded because we have been right beside your student
doing them.
We cannot believe that
we only have one more full week and one half week with our students. We are so
sad to see our students go; however, we are so proud of them and of how hard
they have worked this year. We will miss
seeing them every day. We will miss their smiling faces and hugs. We wish them well
in first grade.
Thank you,
Miss Larkin and Miss
Kirsta
